  Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday announced the reopening of schools from October 19. Schools for all boards and areas outside the shelters will reopen after being closed for more than six months due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

New Delhi: In a new ‘Open 5’ guide released on Wednesday, the Department of Home Affairs (MHA) approved the reopening of schools and colleges from October 15, but left the final decision to each district and union area.


As a result, many major provinces have decided to keep schools closed until the end of the month, due to growing Covid-19 numbers across India, with only Uttar Pradesh opting for a phased reopening starting on 15 October.

According to some media reports, the Government of India is also planning to open these schools in a phased manner from September 1 and November 14, 2020. However, some provinces are opposed to the decision due to student safety. Many other provinces such as Delhi, Haryana and Karnataka support the decision.


Schools for students of 9 to 12 classes in the outer parts of the content will be open from October 19.


Classes will be held in shifts and all required procedures including social isolation and proper cleaning of buildings will need to be followed by schools.
